A Pacific Northwest native now living on Whidbey Island,
Wise is an Impressionist oil painter of diverse subject matter, with an emphasis in landscapes.
While Mike’s work is representational, his approach is based heavily on abstract design.
Wise brings movement and energy to a piece with loose brushwork and sculptural smears of the palette knife.
The end result is a painting rich in varied color and texture
with a distinct three-dimensional feel that draws the viewer deep into the painted image.
Mike's creative process is further influenced by music that fills the studio while he paints.
He works in what was once an old barn that he converted to a modern art studio several years ago.
Mike Wise is a member of Oil Painters of America and the American Impressionist Society.
